¡Breakfast at..... Kechmara in Marrakech!

Het was weer heerlijk een paar dagen in Marrakech te zijn. Terwijl mijn reisgenoten meteen de medina / souk indoken, gunde ik me een dagje modern Marrakech in Guéliz. Ik werd verrast door de hippe, originele winkels en restaurantjes die daar te vinden zijn.

Een echte must visit is Kechmara: een combi van café, restaurant en galerie.

Ik viel voor de mooie ruimte vol design klassiekers uit de jaren 70 en aardige bediening.

De schilderijen die nu aan de muur hangen, zijn gemaakt door Thomas Jarry.

Naast het mooie restaurant met live muziek en wisselende exposities is er ook een dakterras, waar het bij mooi weer heerlijk zitten is. Vergeet niet bij je ontbijt een Panachė (mix van vers fruitsap) of NussNuss (de lekkerste Marokkaanse koffie) te nemen, maar als je er zin in hebt kun je hier ook een croque monsieur bestellen.

 

De menukaart is Frans dus goede afwisseling met de lekkere couscous en Tajine. Vergeet vooral de heerlijke toetjes niet! En .... je komt er niet zoveel toeristen tegen.

Tip: in het boekje 100% Marrakech van 100% Travel staat een leuke wandeling langs allerlei inspirerende winkels in Guéliz (en natuurlijk ook tips voor de Medina). Niet vergeten mee te nemen als je op een stedentrip naar Marrakech of een andere stad gaat!

It was so good to be a few days in Marrakech! While my travel mates were visiting the Medina / Souk, I enjoyed a day of modern Marrakech in Guéliz. I was surprised by the trendy and original shops and restaurants which you can find there. A real must visit is Kechmara: a combination between café, restaurant and gallery. I was charmed by the lovely interior full of design classics from the seventies and nice people. The paintings at this time are mad by Thomas Jarry. Next to the nice restaurant with live music and changing exhibitions, there is a nice rooftop terrace where you have a good sit when the sun is shining. Don't forget to order a Panaché (juice of mixed fruits) or NussNuss (the best Moroccan coffee), but you can also order a croque monsieur if you like. The menu is French, so a good change to the delicious couscous and Tajines. Don't forget the lovely deserts. And ... There are not that many tourists. Tip: In the book 100% Marrakech by 100% Travel, you find a good wandering through Guéliz (and the Medina of course) with all kind of inspiring shops. If you go to Marrakech or another city trip, don't forget to take it with you (Dutch written)
